She sent a videotape of herself to the producers that included her acting as well as a tape of her training in MMA. They inquired if Jessica was able to perform sword fighting, so she was able to send them an image of sword fighting. Jessica had read the script before recording her first weapons lesson. Jonathan Glassner stated that they were awestruck by Jessica's performance in her initial training session. This was Jessica's first US-based principal film part, as her prior films had been made in Australia. Jessica can embody her strong female role due to her enthusiasm for combat, mixed martial arts skills and her riding horse, guns and weapon skills and her athletic ability.
